Lesson with an educator from the Panoptykon Foundation: Limits of freedom of speech on the Internet
After the screening of “The Cleaners” by Hans Block and Moritz Riesewieck
In Polish only
“The Cleaners” is a film that places very important questions of the boundaries set on the freedom of speech on the internet. It forces us to reflect on who should stand guard of those boundaries. Should it be the moderators hired by internet corporations? Or the national police? Or perhaps nobody, because freedom of speech is of the highest importance? As part of the debate that will take place after the screening, students will also attempt to answer these questions. Together we will define the situations, in which freedom of speech should not be limited due to social interests or values and the protection of which could require limiting it.
The debate will be conducted by:
Karolina Szczepaniak – manager of IT projects, lawyer and trainer in the subject of media education. Professionally involved with the Centrum Cyfrowe (“Digital Centre”). She is also involved with the Panoptykon Foundation and the School of Ideas which is a field of study at the SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Her interests include blockchain technology, open source educational materials and copyright law.
