How often do we only focus on the visual layer when watching films? Are the emotions we feel the result of only imagery and situations on screen? What about the incredibly powerful medium that is music? Music has the power to influence the way we perceive stories. It can change the way we feel, give us the creeps, force us to reflect or even bring us to tears. As the American composer John Cage proves in his “4’33”, silence is a form of sound too. Can we make the statement then that film does not exist without music?

The debate will include:

Monika Majorek – director of the renown short film “Inka”, which has been screened at international film festivals such as Cannes Short Film Corner and Palm Springs Short Fest.

Daniel Spaleniak – musician and artist focusing on rock, blues and folk music. His music was a soundtrack to the Netflix’s “Ozark” series.

Michał Szablowski – composer of film music featured in films such as “In absolute silence”, “Women Collection” and “Behind the Blue Door”

The debate will be conducted by Katarzyna Aszkiełowicz – journalist for Radio Gra.
