Debate: There is no generation gap when it comes to art
after the screening of “Faces, places” by Agnes Varda and J.R.

Agnes Varda and JR go on a journey in an old van which has been converted into a giant camera. Inside they print large format photographs which they put into public space of local societies. Despite the 60 year age difference between them, they are connected by similar philosophies of life and artistic sensitivity. After the film we will have a conversation with experienced animators about how to wisely build intergenerational projects, and how to point young creators towards the right mentors and how to encourage those two groups to work together. How do we show that after crossing a strange barrier of age we are still able to build close relations, friendships and creative cooperation?
Participants of the debate will include:
Iza Rutkowska – artist, founder of the Forms and Shapes Foundation, she gives new forms and shapes to reality. She changes spaces into places of interaction with art, mobilizes to dialog and creates interdisciplinary projects. She has realized projects in cooperation with the Zachęta National Gallery of Art, Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, Center of Contemporary Art Znaki Czasu in Toruń, Ministry of Environmental Protection, Museum of Modern Art in Bologna and the National Galley of Indonesia in Jakarta.

The debate will be conducted by:
Misia Furtak – musician, journalist, animator. Winner of a Fryderyk Award for Debut of the Year, Polityka’s Passport in the category of Pop Music and the Grzegorz Ciechowski Arts Award of the City of Toruń. She has performed many concerts across Europe and Japan. She has run a music radio broadcast in Polish Radio RDC. She is among the founders of the Association of Creative Initiatives “ę”, with which she is still in cooperation. In the years 2016-2017 she was associated with the department of education and research at the National Audiovisual Institute.
