What is the essence built into architecture? Can buildings and relationships between them be read? What is communicated by their form and arrangement? How does that which surrounds us, influence the development of the city of tomorrow? At this field workshop we will look closer at the arrangement of four frontages that make up the Plac Defilad (Parade Square), the streets: Emilii Plater, Świętokrzyska, Marszałkowska, and Aleje Jerozolimskie. These frontages which form our picture of modern Warsaw and will determine its further development. We will analyze their aesthetics and spacial scale in context of urban design, architecture and attention to detail. We will investigate whether it will allow us to better diagnose the future development of downtown Warsaw.
The workshop will be conducted by:
Agnieszka Kołacińska – architect, member of the organization Terytoria Kultury (“Cultural Territories”) which works in between the medium of architecture, art and architecture conservation. Along with the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw she is the co-creator of a program focused on architecture and urban design.
Kuba Andrzejewski – student of architecture at the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology, a member of the Terytoria Kultury (“Cultural Territories”) organization. He also cooperates with the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw as a creator of workshops in architecture and urban design.
